Анотація

Дано характеристику особливостей промислу китів з давніх історичних часів. Виділено якісно різні епохи. Обґрунтовано перехід до промислу китів у водах Антарктики. Вказано обсяги здобування основних промислових видів китів. Розглянуто історію створення Міжнародної Конвенції з врегулювання промислу й розробки Єдиних правил здобування китів. Описано характер китобійного промислу в нинішній час.
